3 Days of non stop action. Surf Slalom, wave riding and long distance racing at its best.
This years Coreban Summer Series event saw the largest field of SUP entrants in Africa with over 100 entrants ranging from 7 year old Cameron Tripney in the kids division to Novice Men and Ladies divisions, the highly contested Junior division, Legends over 45 and Open Men and -Ladies divisions. After 3 perfect days of weather Justin Bing was crowned overall winner of South Africa's most prestigious SUP event.

Day 1 saw surf slalom racing as heats of 8 riders battled it out with the top 4 advancing to the next round. Tight, close up action, though the surf saw the best riders advancing to the final round.

Day 2 saw a rise in the swell and the call for wave riding was made. The standard of SUP was pushed to a new level as riders displayed moves yet to be named. The Beach Religion Expression session saw tandem riding as male with female riders took on the surf to display true aloha spirit.

Day 3 Quite easily the most action packed SUP day Africa has ever seen. As the early morning South Easter backed off it was time for long distance racing  around the islands at Big Bay. 14ft Boards and huge surf are usually not the best combination but as contest director Barend Buys set the coarse athletes knew that it would separate the best from the rest.

Start of the race saw the set of the day come through causing many athletes to immediately be eliminated while top riders navigated their way through the surf. Then disaster struck. Dylan Frick, Greg Bertish and Colin Heckroodt, top entrants in line for overall 1st place position, leading the pack took the wrong coarse opening up the field and allowing Peter Peterson and others to sneak through into top position. Showing true colors in the Ladies division was Brigette van Aswegen setting a new standard in ladies long distance racing.

With long distance out the way it was time for Surf slalom finals, once again through the larger surf. Chris Bertish determined to make up for his earlier mistake took top line honors. As the swell continued to push through the final rounds of the wave riding went into full swing. Tom King-Kleinhans displayed true surfing while Justin Bing and Dylan Frick displayed new school maneuvers.  Justin Bing sneaked in a few extra moves winning the wave riding discipline.

With all points tallied up from the 3 days and 3 disciplines it was Justin Bing walking away with the 2011 Mens Open title and Karina Figl showing top form in all 3 disciplines finished 1st overall in the Ladies Open division.
